why is the black box in display window instead of my photo?
I have followed all the instructions but everyone said they see only a black box in my display window, why?

Test this out with a couple people to see if it works for you. It will take both your friend you are chatting with as well as you to follow those steps.
Note also where it talks about when you upload a display image what to avoid in the file name. You will see this where it says Please Note.
If that doesn't work then try the steps below.

1. CLEAR Y!M CACHE: Be sure to exit yahoo messenger first, by right clicking the yahoo icon by your clock and choosing exit, before you do the following steps: Delete the yahoo messenger cache folder. Follow this path for XP: My Computer/ C: drive/Program Files/Yahoo/Messenger/Cache. You can delete the entire folder. Do not worry, it will be replaced as you use Yahoo! Messenger. I am not sure of the path for Windows Vista.
2. Next, check that you have Adobe Flash Player installed on Internet Explorer. Though you can install flash using other browsers such as Firefox, the one that matters for Yahoo Messenger is Internet Explorer. If your version is the latest you might still want to follow the steps in the link for the article I will post in a minute to uninstall using the Removal Tool. Maybe it is corrupt.
CHECK ADOBE FLASH PLAYER VERSION: Do you have the latest Adobe Flash Player installed? The latest version is 10.0.32.18. Here is a link that will check your version :

If you do update this also you can uncheck the box for Google toolbar that is on the download page, it is totally optional. After the installation box pops up, close all browser windows before installing. Important: Yahoo Messenger relies on Internet Explorer so be sure that when you update Adobe Flash Player that you do it in Internet Explorer. If you also use Firefox you will also eventually want to run this same page in Firefox and check your Adobe Flash Player version but the one that matters for Yahoo is Internet Explorer.
